Stirling Albion head for Hampden on Saturday knowing that a win would take us above Queen’s Park in the Ladbrokes League 2 table.

Kevin Rutkiewicz: “It was a poor performance last week against Brechin and we need to make sure it was just a blip. There doesn’t tend to be much between ourselves and Queen’s Park and it was a moment of magic that settled it in their favour on the opening day.”

Team news: Jordan Lowdon is a long-term absentee after knee surgery but fellow left-back James Creaney is in line to return and midfielder Kevin Nicoll should also be available after missing the last couple of games. The match will probably come too soon for centre-half Gareth Rodger but he could feature in a bounce game next week.

Opponents: The Spiders lost 2-0 at Albion Rovers last weekend but had been on a good run before that. They knocked Queen of the South out of the Scottish Cup at Palmerston and beat Edinburgh City in their last home game.

Past meetings: David Galt scored the only goal when Queen’s Park won 1-0 at Forthbank on the opening day. Both games at Hampden last season ended in draws – 1-1 and 0-0. Our last win at the National Stadium was 2-0 in August 2013 with late goals from Sandy Cunningham and Mark Ferry.
