Queen’s Park hit back for a draw at Hampden as Albion were denied a second away league win of the season.

Dylan Mackin gave us the lead 10 minutes before half-time but full-back Ryan Finnie struck with 11 minutes left and we had defender James Creaney sent off for a second booking late on.

The result was little surprise after two draws at the National Stadium last season and with just two points between the teams in the table – it means we have now lost just two of our last 11 League 2 fixtures.

Binos boss Kevin Rutkiewicz made two changes to the team beaten 4-2 by Brechin, with Kevin Nicoll and Creaney in for David Wilson and Cammy Thomson. We were forced into another switch inside 20 minutes when keeper Blair Currie limped off to be replaced by Cammy Binnie.

On a grim afternoon of rain and an icy wind, the Spiders looked the more likely team in the first half hour and we survived a penalty appeal when Salim Kouider-Aissa went down under a challenge from Ross McGeachie before Ciaran Summers’ inswinging corner hit the bar.

We began to pose a threat and took the lead when Sean Heaver’s cross from the left provided the assist for Mackin and the big striker slid the ball home from close range. We almost scored again when Dylan Bikey wriggled clear but his effort came back off the post.

Queen’s Park thought they had levelled in first-half stoppage time when a corner was scrambled away but they struggled to make inroads in the second half. Heaver had a great chance to seal the victory after being sent clear by Mackin but his finish was narrowly wide.

Willie Muir tipped a Mackin drive over the bar but the hosts equalised with a goal out of nothing when David Galt set up recent signing Finnie, who cut inside and squeezed a shot inside the post.

That lifted Mark Roberts’ men and sub Alfredo Agyeman scooped the ball over from four yards following a corner then Creaney saw red in the last minute for a foul when already on a booking as it ended all square.
