Inside the Box – Programme notes for tomorrow’s game v Arbroath
If I’m being honest, there have been innumerable dark moments, over the course of the past six months, when I thought we’d not get to the point of playing a competitive match of football, when set against a backcloth of the desperately difficult challenge of “Staying Safe” amidst a pandemic that is causing such worldwide devastation and heartbreak.
Having got to that point, we now face the Mastermind Challenge of “I’ve started so I’ll finish” with all the signs, as we head into the winter months, that things are likely to get worse before they get better. Ok, enough negativity!…
I extend an especially warm welcome to Dick Campbell, his backroom staff and players and the limited number of Arbroath Directors in attendance. Hopefully, in time, I will be able to extend that welcome to fans but in the meantime Ben McAdam’s SATV Live Streaming is available to all!
There has been no shortage of activity going on in the background to get the Stadium “Covid Ready” and I extend my thanks to John Daly and his team of “volunteers” for their above and beyond efforts with the Marigolds and Sanitiser. We passed our SFA “State of Readiness” inspection last week and John’s Team, with a number of additions, now move forward to stewarding safe access to and from the Stadium for permitted personnel, on match days.
Undoubtedly, there are many more challenges lying ahead and, at this point in time, all I can do is provide you with the assurance that I and my Club Board colleagues are working tirelessly to ensure we remain as proactive as possible in addressing whatever is thrown at us.
With many of our traditional income streams not just reduced but severed, my thanks to everyone who has supported us by buying a season ticket, knowing that in all likelihood they would not be watching matches in person at Forthbank. Plenty of time to purchase yours, if you haven’t already and take advantage of Live Streaming for our SPFL2 matches but, in any event, streaming will be available to everyone on a pay-per-game basis, including cup matches.
Clichéd perhaps, but nevertheless it can never be said too often…
Take Care and Stay Safe,
