Stirling Albion 2 – 3 Annan Athletic
Forthbank Stadium
Saturday, 18 December 2021

Stirling goals: Scally 7’, 90’

Annan goals: Johnston 30’, Goss 33’, McCartney 76’

Dylan Mackin started up top for Stirling and Leo Watson started at left back in his fifth appearance of the season.

The match started off promisingly on what was an extremely foggy day on Saturday. Daniel Scally gave the Binos the lead in less than 10 minutes off a Dylan Mackin through ball.

Nathan Flanagan and Scally each had legitimate chances in the following 15 minutes but could not convert. Those two were the most electric on the day, providing the attacking threat. But their efforts were not enough as Annan equalised in the 30th minute through Johnston and then scored again three minutes later, taking a 2-1 lead into the half.

The second half was not much better as Jack Leitch was sent off in the 55th minute for a late tackle, leaving Stirling with 10 men for the last 35 minutes.

In the 76th minute, Annan scored their third goal, making it 3-1 to the visitors. There were not many more chances for Stirling Albion apart from their second goal.

Scally grabbed his second goal of the day after a headed effort in the 90th minute found the back of the net. The match finished 3-2 four minutes later.

Next up, Stirling will take on Elgin City on Tuesday. Kick off will be at 19:45
