At the beginning of the season we opened the South Terracing for home supporters and committed to review the situation at Christmas. We’ve now done that and concluded that we will need to close the South Terracing for most games. This will come into effect immediately ie the terracing will not be open for the match versus Hamilton Academical on 6 January 2024 and for home fixtures from that point unless demand requires it.
This is purely for financial reasons.
To open the South Terracing on matchdays we need to engage stewards at a cost of c. £500, our catering operation loses money and other costs are incurred too. Income from fans using the South Terracing rarely covers those costs as most customers are relocating from the West Stand. We know that this will prove unpopular with the small number of fans who use that area but in the current climate, as we look to stabilise in League 1, we must ensure we look after our finances.
