Stirling Albion F.C. Youth Academy Physiotherapist Job Specification

Stirling Albion F.C. are recruiting a qualified Physiotherapist to work within their Youth Academy. As part of Stirling Albion’s duty of care we provide physiotherapy access for all Academy players and there is currently a vacancy for the appropriately qualified candidate. This is an exciting opportunity for any Physio interested in building experience in the football industry with the opportunity to work alongside and learn from a hugely experienced 1st Team Physio.

Location: Forthbank Stadium, Stirling
Hours: Two hour physio clinic on a Tuesday. Match day cover on Fridays and Sundays.
Compensation: £120 per week
Start date: Immediately

The Academy Physiotherapist will answer directly to Head of Youth Academy. The Academy Physiotherapist will work closely with all age-groups within the Academy (U16, U18 and U20) and may occasionally be asked to assist with First Team duties.

Roles And Responsibilities

The person fulfilling this role will be expected to conduct the following Roles and Responsibilities to the highest standard with professionalism, integrity and without prejudice:

  • To liaise closely with all staff, players and parents to ensure all injured players are appropriately taken care of
  • To provide long term rehabilitation plans, advice and consultation for players recovering from long term injury
  • To provide support, guidance and treatment for injured players
  • To provide pitch-side first aid and physiotherapy support on match-days
  • To provide injury treatment on training nights
  • To cover for First Team duties when required
  • To build honest and trusting relationships with Coaching Staff, Club Staff, Players and Parents
  • To liaise closely with Head of Youth Academy and all Coaching Staff to report back on extent of injuries
  • To represent The Club professionally on and off the field including at corporate events, on social media and at media appearances

At all times it will be expected that the Academy Physiotherapist will act upon their duties within the expectations outlined within the Club’s Code of Conduct.

Person Specification

Qualities/Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be HCPC registered
  • The candidate must be registered with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists
  • The candidate must have at least a BSc Physiotherapy
  • Preferably the candidate will have a MSc (pre-registration) Physiotherapy Degree
  • Experience of working within Football would be preferable
  • An understanding of the needs and demands on the body for taking part in elite football is essential
  • Candidate should hold Pitch-Side First Aid qualification or be willing to obtain it
  • Candidate should have a clean criminal background check
  • Candidate should show integrity, professionalism and an unprejudiced approach to their business
  • Candidate should have a professional and committed approach to Stirling Albion F.C. taking a genuine interest in the success of every aspect of the Football Club
  • Candidate should show a loyalty to Stirling Albion F.C.
  • Candidate should show a desire to work within Stirling Albion F.C’s established Club Ethos and Code Of Conduct treating all current and new members of Club staff with fairness, honesty and respect
  • Candidate must be available to regularly attend training sessions and matches throughout the football season (this requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends)
  • Candidate must have an ability to build a strong and trusting rapport with players and staff at Stirling Albion F.C.
  • A driver license would be advantageous for carrying out the requirements of the role.
