We were saddened to learn of the death of our former player Jimmy Fleming after a long battle with dementia.

Jimmy joined us in 1949 and spent five years at Annfield, with an interruption due to National Service. He was part of the team that won the 1952/53 Division Two title and at the end of 1953/54 was transferred to Bill Shankly’s Workington Town for full-time football.

A left half, he ended his career at Berwick Rangers and ran his own successful plumber’s business after hanging up his boots.

Jimmy is survived by May his wife of 66 years, three sons and eight grandchildren. Our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.
