Stirling Albion are delighted to announce that experienced defender Martin McNiff is our second new signing for season 2021/22.

The 29-year-old former Dumbarton and Annan Athletic player joins from Clyde and follows the recent addition of midfielder Ray Grant from Alloa Athletic.

Martin had been at Broadwood since 2016 and made 24 appearances in all competitions in the season just ended. He was part of the Clyde team who were promoted to League 1 via the play-offs in 2018/19 – a campaign that also saw him weigh in with 11 goals.

Manager Kevin Rutkiewicz said: “Martin is a player I’ve long admired and I’m delighted to be able to bring him to our club. He has key attributes that we identified as fitting in with how we want to work as a team.

“He will join a squad that is strong and add his qualities and experience. His desire to join up was a real driving factor and I know one or two in the changing room will be delighted to see a familiar face. Welcome to the Binos!”

Chairman Stuart Brown added: “Since Clyde announced his departure, Martin hasn’t been short of offers from other clubs and the Club Board is delighted that Kevin has managed to persuade him that Forthbank is the right place to ‘ply his trade’ next season.

“I’ve no doubt that Martin’s competitive attitude, combined with his proven ability and experience, will further enhance the quality of our playing squad for the upcoming campaign. Welcome to Stirling Albion, Martin!”
