Dunipace U20s 3-3 Stirling Albion U18s

After six long months off, the Stirling Albion Youth Academy finally returned to action with the U18s visiting Dunipace U20s in their first pre-season friendly of the new season.

On a clear, crisp night in Denny the conditions were perfect and both teams served up a fine display of football under the Friday night floodlights.

Stirling Albion had a bright opening to the game but some indecision at the back left the visitors trailing after 10 minutes. That was cancelled out 10 minutes later when the impressive Kyle Johnston drove his free-kick in low and hard from an angle which deflected into the Dunipace net off a defender. The hosts responded well and had the majority of chances in the next 25 minutes, scoring twice to go in at half-time with a deserved 3-1 lead.

The second half saw a great response, with the Binos creating more chances. Matthew Meechan scored a double, the first an assist from Sam Metcalfe, who had a great game in his first appearance at U18 level, the second a fine lob over the Dunipace keeper from the edge of the box.

Energy levels remained high throughout the match and the U18 coaches had plenty of positives to take away from this first outing.

Huge thanks are extended to Dunipace for hosting and all of us at Forthbank wish them well for their forthcoming season.
