We play our second game in Betfred Cup Group C on Wednesday, kick-off 7.45pm, when Arbroath visit Forthbank.

Kevin Rutkiewicz: “I was thrilled with the performance against Hibs and delighted for the boys because they have been working so hard but we need more of the same against a very strong Arbroath side.”

Team news: Defenders Gareth Rodger and James Creaney and midfielder Kevin Nicoll missed the 1-1 draw with Hibs and manager Kevin Rutkiewicz will assess his squad ahead of the game.

Past meetings: The last three meetings between the teams have all ended in draws, including the 1-1 result that saw the Red Lichties clinch the League 2 title in May 2017. Our last win against Arbroath was 1-0 here in March 2016 when Craig Beattie struck late on. The most recent League Cup clash was at Gayfield in August 2012 when the home side won on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Opponents: Arbroath are looking forward to Championship football for the first time since 2002/03. They beat Elgin City 2-1 at Gayfield in their Betfred Cup opener thanks to a last-minute goal from Steven Doris. Boss Dick Campbell has this summer brought in Derek Gaston (Morton), Scott Stewart (Airdrieonians) and Robert Wilson (Berwick Rangers).

Format: There are eight groups, with the winners and four best runners-up progressing to the last 16, where they are joined by Celtic, Rangers, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen.

In the event of a draw: The game will be decided on penalty kicks, with the winning team receiving a bonus point.
