Dave Mackay takes his team to the North East to play Peterhead in Betfred Cup Group D on Saturday as we look to get our first points on the board.

Team news: Defender Darren Barr and striker Darren Smith remain on the sidelines while Lee Hamilton (foot) and Kevin Moon (groin) are both doubtful after picking up injuries in the midweek defeat to Brechin City.

Past meetings: We won 4-2 on our first visit to Balmoor last season but lost the second game 4-3 in January and were beaten 3-0 in the second leg of the play-off semi-final in May.

Opponents: Jim McInally’s side were pipped for the League 2 title by Montrose then lost to Stenhousemuir in the play-off final. Their summer signings so far are Ross Kavanagh (Stirling Albion), Paddy Boyle (Ayr United), Michael Dunlop (Stenhousemuir), Derek Lyle (Queen of the South), Cameron Eadie (Elgin City) and Callum Home (Clyde). Peterhead drew 0-0 in their opening Group D game at Brechin last weekend and won the shoot-out but lost 3-0 to Dunfermline on Tuesday.

Cup format: The eight group winners and four best runners-up will be joined in the last 16 by Celtic, Aberdeen, Rangers and Hibernian. A reminder that drawn games in the Betfred Cup group stage go straight to penalties, with the winners awarded a bonus point.
