Programme notes from Saturday’s game against Edinburgh City

A warm welcome to everyone representing Edinburgh City for today’s match; our final home fixture of the calendar year.

It’s Santa Hat Day at Forthbank so Plan A is for everyone in the Stand to be wearing the appropriate headgear and Plan B is for everyone on the pitch wearing red not to take the role too seriously and give away any presents.

December has – so far – been a disappointing month, having led and looked comfortable in both fixtures only to subsequently drop five points out of the six on offer. With Brechin City having followed up their win at Forthbank with another win, at home against Cowdenbeath last weekend, the bottom half of the league has tightened up considerably. To quote – “All I want for Christmas is… a win”!

I’m not one for excuses but injuries haven’t helped our cause this season and unfortunately this situation only got worse last weekend when Blair Currie limped off after only 18 minutes. At the time of writing (Sunday), the full extent of Blair’s injury isn’t known but post-match, based on Physio Kenny Crichton’s assessment, it had already been agreed that a scan would be required and I fear that Kevin may have had to spend time this week bringing in a goalkeeper on loan, as cover. I’m sure everyone will join me in wishing Blair a full and speedy recovery.

As well as Santa Hat Day, today also sees our Supporters Club hold their traditional Festive Hospitality Bash, with over 60 members and their guests enjoying the fine fare provided by our in-house caterers, Inception Catering, and no doubt a sherbet or two besides. My thanks to the Supporters Club Committee for their hard work in running the Supporters Bar throughout the season – enjoy your day off!

I close with other unsung match day volunteer Thank Yous as we head the end of 2019, with apologies to anyone I’ve missed…

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
