Programme notes from Saturday’s game against Queen’s Park

The usual warm welcome to everyone representing Queen’s Park, the only unbeaten professional football club in world football! *

(Note to Stirling Albion Players – Welcome to Hampden Park for today’s AWAY match versus Queen’s Park! **)

* Time for that record to be undone!

** Last home win 16 November v Annan Athletic. Last away defeat 9 November v Cove Rangers, capturing 16 points out of a possible 18 since.

And we still maintain our stat of being the only “senior” League Club in the UK not to have conceded an away first half goal this season!

The battle for a play-off spot is well and truly on, indeed last Saturday, for the second time this season we briefly occupied 4th spot with less than 10 minutes to go, only to be pushed back to 5th thanks to Elgin City’s late double at Glebe Park v Brechin City.

The January Transfer Window saw an equal number of departures and arrivals at Forthbank. Gareth Rodger and Lewis Hawke signed for Gala Fairydean Rovers and Montrose, respectively and I wish them well at their new clubs. Incoming were Nicky Hogarth from Rangers and Ronan Hughes, Hamilton Accies.

Eighteen-year-old Nicky’s performance at Ainslie Park last Saturday belied his tender years with a couple of saves that were truly outstanding (if you’ve not seen them, tune into Ben McAdam’s, SATV highlights accessible through our Website (https://www.stirlingalbionfc.co.uk/).

Ronan needs no introduction to the Binos, having joined us on loan in September of season 18/19. He’s featured in 12 first team matches for Hamilton Accies this season and it was a real boost when his parent club agreed to let him move to Forthbank on Deadline Day!

Away from the pitch, our Community Classes continue at a pace at five locations – Balfron (Primary & High School), Dunblane High, Newton Primary, Stirling High and The Allan Centre – if you’ve got a child between the age of 5 and 12, why not check out our website (see link above) and get them signed up!

Fasten your seat belts, the remainder of the season is set to be full of twists and turns and no shortage of drama!

C’mon the Binos!
