It was a winning start to our pre-season schedule on Saturday lunchtime with an impressive 2-0 victory over Ayr United in the Somerset Park sunshine.

Both the goals came in the second half – summer signing Jack Leitch headed home a 50th-minute opener from a David Wilson cross following a short corner.

The second came towards the end and was a spectacular own goal – an attempted pass-back from distance went badly wrong and sailed over the Ayr keeper’s head!

Ayr had their chances but we defended well and most of the squad got an outing against Mark Kerr’s Championship side. Dylan Mackin, Andy Ryan and Kurtis Roberts missed out due to knocks.

Former Stirling and Peterhead forward Ross Kavanagh and ex-Annan and Elgin midfielder Ryan Sinnamon were included as trialists and both came on as substitutes.
