Stirling were well beaten at Borough Briggs on Thursday evening as Elgin followed up their 4-1 win at Stranraer on Tuesday with another crucial victory in the play-off battle.

Albion had lost 2-1 to League 2 champions Queen’s Park 48 hours before their meeting with Gavin Price’s men and it was a night to forget for Kevin Rutkiewicz’s men.

It was a much-changed team from Tuesday, with Dylan Mackin, Jack Leitch and Kyle Banner among those returning to the starting XI and there was a surprise start for Aldin El-Zubaidi after injury.

Stirling lost winger Kieran Moore and top scorer Andy Ryan to injuries in the opening 15 minutes of this game, then conceded two goals in as many minutes shortly after.

Aidan Sopel fired the hosts in front with a well-taken volley in off the far post then Russell Dingwall followed up to slam the ball into the net after Blair Currie had saved from Kane Hester.

It was all over in 64 minutes when League 2 top scorer Hester set up Brian Cameron for a simple finish. Dingwall rattled the post before Stirling got a goal back nine minutes from time when Dylan Bikey angled a fine shot across Tom McHale and into the bottom corner.
