Stirling Albion head for the capital on Saturday to play Ladbrokes League 2 leaders Edinburgh City at Ainslie Park, looking to build on our good run of just one defeat in seven matches.

Kevin Rutkiewicz: “It’s a brilliant game for us and I can’t wait. We’re playing the team at the top of the league away from home so what have we got to lose? The players have an opportunity to really kick-start their season and make a name for themselves – that’s a great incentive.”

Team news: Defender Lee Hamilton, midfielder Kevin Moon and forward Mark Stewart remain on the injury list. Striker Dylan Mackin is a doubt after picking up a knock in the 2-1 win over Cowdenbeath but left-back Jordan Allan should be fit despite also being forced off in that match.

Recent meetings: Edinburgh City were 3-1 winners at Ainslie Park in August when all the goals came in the second half. Mark Stewart was our scorer. It was 1-0 for City at Forthbank in October in what was Kevin Rutkiewicz’s first match as Binos boss. Our last victory in this fixture was 2-1 at Ainslie Park in November 2017 when Ross Kavanagh and Callumn Morrison were on target.

Opponents: James McDonaugh’s men are enjoying an outstanding season and have a three-point lead over title favourites Peterhead after losing only twice so far – at home to Clyde and away to Elgin. Former Stirling striker Blair Henderson has already scored 18 league goals after moving from Annan in the summer.

Stadium: Ainslie Park is just off Ferry Road, behind the Morrison’s supermarket. If you’re travelling via train and bus, the No 27 stops just a few minutes’ walk from the ground. Details HERE
