Stirling Albion are delighted to announce that striker Declan Byrne has become our third new signing of the summer.

The 24-year-old former Elgin City forward joins us from Albion Rovers, having scored 11 goals in 26 League 2 appearances for the Coatbridge club last season.

Declan’s arrival at Forthbank follows the signings last week of former Dunfermline and Airdrie striker Andy Ryan and ex-Queen’s Park winger Kieran Moore.

Binos boss Kevin Rutkiewicz said: “Declan had a great season for Albion Rovers and gives us a different dimension up front. He was actually in training with us in my first transfer window after he left Elgin but he was more of a wide player at the time and since then he has done really well for Albion.

“Last season was his first through the middle so to get the numbers of goals and assists with a team who finished second bottom was phenomenal. He scored against the likes of Cove, Queen’s Park, Elgin and ourselves and has raw pace and power which defenders find hard to combat.

“We have managed to beat off several clubs to get his signature – the full management team here had a Zoom meeting with Declan and he was keen to join us so I’m very happy we got it done.”

Chairman Stuart Brown added: “I’m absolutely delighted to be able to confirm the capture of Declan Byrne’s signature to add another player of real quality to our squad for season 20/21.

“With 14 players now confirmed, the Club Board is delighted with the progress made by Kevin (and his backroom team) and it goes without saying that we will continue to fully support him as he sets about putting the finishing touches in place.”
