Jordan McGregor grabbed an injury-time winner as we edged past Berwick in the second round of the Scottish Cup.

The result was harsh on the Borderers, who deserved a replay, but we can now look forward to a third-round tie with Tranent at Forthbank on Saturday November 27.

Binos boss Kevin Rutkiewicz was without Paul McLean, Ross McGeachie, Ray Grant and Dale Carrick and made two changes to the team that drew 1-1 with Stranraer.

There were few chances in the opening quarter of the game at a blustery Shielfield but we took the lead when Dylan Mackin’s header went in off the post after McGregor had nodded a Jack Leitch corner into his path.

Stuart Malcolm’s men were level eight minutes later when on-loan Hearts midfielder Aidan Denholm smashed a superb shot into the corner from outside the box.

Sean Stewart missed a great chance for Berwick midway through the second half when he fired wide when clean through then Blair Currie made a vital save from Kieran McGrath.

We finished strongly and Kyle Banner had a shot cleared off the line before McGregor’s dramatic late winner. He netted from six yards after another Leitch corner and an assist from Dylan Bikey.
