Stirling v Cowdenbeath preview

Cowdenbeath are the visitors to Forthbank on Saturday as we play our first home game since beating Elgin City 5-2 on December 1.

Team news: Manager Kevin Rutkiewicz is again without long-term absentees Lee Hamilton and Mark Stewart and Kevin Moon is also facing a spell on the sidelines. The Blue Brazil will be without Jason Talbot, who was sent off against Edinburgh City last week.

Kevin Rutkiewicz: “We played some good stuff at Peterhead last week but the goals we conceded were poor. We’ve done well at home recently and want to finish the year on a positive note but Cowdenbeath will be looking to get further away from us in the table.”

Opponents: Cowdenbeath are sixth in the Ladbrokes League 2 table, two places and four points above Stirling Albion. Their away record this season is two wins, two draws and three defeats, with seven goals scored and seven conceded. Gary Bollan’s men were four games unbeaten in League 2 before losing 2-0 at home to Edinburgh City last Saturday and have a Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against Rangers at Central Park to look forward to next month.

Past meetings: David Marsh scored the only goal when 10-man Cowdenbeath beat us 1-0 at Central Park in October. The last Forthbank meeting was a 2-2 draw in March when Danny Jardine and Neil McLaughlin (penalty) got our goals.
