Annan Athletic 2-2 Stirling Albion

Dom Docherty’s spectacular volley 11 minutes from time earned Stirling a point at Galabank as we made it three games without defeat in Ladbrokes League 2.

Peter Murphy’s men were twice ahead through Tony Wallace and Ryan Sinnamon but Dylan Mackin and Docherty squared things up on a cold but bright afternoon.

Binos boss Kevin Rutkiewicz named an unchanged line-up after the 1-1 draw at Clyde, with Mark Stewart, Calum Ferrie and Lee Hamilton again ruled out through injury. Michael McIndoe featured as a trialist for the third and final time while Kevin Moon returned to the squad.

Annan, who won 2-1 at Forthbank in September, were the better side in the first half. Former Kilmarnock winger Chris Johnston was causing a few problems and the hosts deservedly went ahead after 20 minutes when Wallace headed home Johnston’s free-kick from six yards.

Cammy Binnie had earlier made a good save from David Wilson and made another smart stop early in the second half, by which time Darren Barr and Evan Horne had been replaced by Ronan Hughes and Kyle Banner.

Mackin equalised in 55 minutes when he was expertly teed up by Docherty and fired a shot beyond Alex Mitchell for his second goal in a Stirling shirt. It was a composed finish but Annan were back in front in 73 minutes when Sinnamon found the corner with a low drive after cutting into the box off the right wing.

Docherty earned us a draw with his third goal of the campaign – a wonderful volley into the top corner from 20 yards – and Binnie made a superb save to keep out a header from sub Ross Fergusson at the end.

Annan Athletic: Mitchell, Hooper, Creaney, Wilson, Moxon, Bradley, Johnston (Roberts 89), Sinnamon, Wright, Muir (Fergusson 65), Wallace (Smith 75). Subs (not used): Langan, Sonkur, Watson.

Scorers: Wallace 20, Sinnamon 73

Stirling Albion: Binnie, McGeachie, Allan, Barr (Hughes 46), Horne (Banner 46), Marr, Jardine, Docherty, McIndoe (Smith 77), McLaughlin, Mackin. Subs (not used): Law (GK), Thomson, Moon, MacDonald.

Scorers: Mackin 55, Docherty 79

Referee: Gavin Ross
