Programme notes from Saturday’s game against Peterhead…
It’s inevitable that the writing of “Inside the Box” is a lot tougher following on from a loss and even more so given the manner of our defeat against Elgin City last Saturday, having twice been ahead, only to lose two late goals.
One thing I can say, without fear of contradiction, is that defeat didn’t come as a consequence of any lack of effort from the players and it was a long and sombre journey home down the A9.
On the positive side, if someone had offered us a guarantee, following our last game in October 2018 (a 1-0l home loss to Edinburgh City) that we’d move from six points after 10 games to 34 points after 24, I’ve no doubt we’d all have signed on the dotted line!
Moving forward, today’s game sees us take on high-flying Peterhead; one of only two teams to have beaten us during the aforementioned 14 game run. In welcoming everyone associated with Peterhead, I’m confident Kevin and the players will ensure our warm and friendly hospitality won’t extend further than behind the scenes.
Turning to off-field matters, I’m extremely disappointed to have received a report of inappropriate behaviour by a small number of “supporters” attending our recent away match at Berwick Rangers. This, linked to other events, has given rise to a revision of our Supporters’ Code of Conduct and I make no apology for quoting the following extract that is central to the revision…
Whilst the Code of Conduct is primarily directed at the attendance of supporters attending matches at Forthbank Stadium, the policy of treating the Club Board, Management, employees, players, volunteers and fellow supporters of both Stirling Albion FC, and our opposition, with dignity, courtesy and respect applies home and away and 24/7. The Club will not tolerate any form of discrimination, harassment, personal abuse or bullying and will take formal action against anyone found to be responsible for any such behaviour when linked to their dealings with Stirling Albion FC.
The Club Board, with the full support of our colleagues on the Trust Board, are as one in our determination to ensure any substantiated breach of the Code of Conduct is dealt with appropriately and I would ask anyone who witnesses (or is made aware of) an incident, that they consider to be a breach, to report it in confidence to the Club through the normal channels.
Enjoy today’s game and see you all again for Clyde on Tuesday evening!
