Stirling Albion head for Coatbridge on Saturday to take on Albion Rovers in our final January fixture, with the milder weather hopefully allowing the game to go ahead.
Kevin Rutkiewicz: “Albion Rovers have improved since Kevin took over and it will be a difficult game. They have already beaten Stirling this season and that will make them feel they can do it again but we have a shown a level of consistency in our results.”
Team news: Defender Lee Hamilton, midfielder Kevin Moon and forward Mark Stewart remain on the sidelines and midfielder Dom Docherty is also unavailable as he completes a two-match ban.
Recent meetings: Rovers ran out 3-0 winners at the Reigart Stadium at the end of September in what proved to be Dave Mackay’s last match in charge. The December 15 clash at Forthbank was postponed due to a frozen pitch and a new date has still to be confirmed. Prior to this season, we had not been in the same division as the Coatbridge club since 2013/14.
Opponents: Albion Rovers are bottom of the table, with their only win coming against Stirling, but they have drawn three of their last six outings and played well despite losing 2-0 to Peterhead in their last match a fortnight ago. Kevin Harper has this month signed Shaun Rodgers (Morton, loan), Declan Byrne (Elgin City), Gregor Fotheringham (Queen’s Park), Ben Reilly (Troon), Jason Krones (Motherwell) and Michael Hardie (Drumchapel United).
