Weather permitting – there is still snow on the pitch and the forecast is to stay cold – we are due to play Edinburgh City at Forthbank on Saturday, kick-off 3.00pm.
We defeated Berwick Rangers 2-0 a fortnight ago but were beaten 4-3 by Peterhead at Balmoor last weekend – a defeat that saw us slip to fifth in the table.
Team news: Binos boss Dave Mackay made his first signing of the transfer window this week in the shape of 30-year-old ex-St Johnstone, Alloa and Raith Rovers midfielder Kevin Moon. Full-back Cammy Thomson has returned to St Johnstone after his short-term loan deal expired. Steven Noble, Sean Dickson and Andy Little remain on the sidelines.
Previous meetings: First-half goals from Darren Smith and Ross Kavanagh earned us a 2-0 win when City visited Forthbank in August. We came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory at Ainslie Park in November when Kavanagh and Callumn Morrison got our goals after Scott Shepherd had opened the scoring.
Opponents: Edinburgh City began 2018 with back-to-back wins over Berwick Rangers and Cowdenbeath before losing 2-0 at home to Montrose last week, when striker Farid El Alagui was sent off. James McDonaugh’s side are eighth in the table and have signed Pat Scullion (Berwick Rangers), Liam Henderson (Falkirk), Cameron Blues (Falkirk, loan) and Graham Taylor (Dundee United, loan) this month.
