Stirling Albion begin the second quarter of the Ladbrokes League 2 campaign at home to Stenhousemuir on Saturday, kick-off 3.00pm.
We go into the game with a five-point lead over Montrose at the top of the table and in Darren Smith we have the SPFL top scorer, with 10 league goals.
Team news: Striker Andy Little remains out and defender Scott Davidson is also sidelined. Peter MacDonald is rated a doubt after being forced off during last week’s 3-0 win at Cowdenbeath.
Previous meetings: Ross Kavanagh scored a late winner when we beat Stenhousemuir 3-2 at Ochilview on the opening day. That was also the score in the last Forthbank encounter in May 2015 when Andy Stirling and Ross Forsyth struck in the closing minutes. We have won four of the last five meetings against our local rivals.
Opponents: Stenhousemuir are fourth in the table after going down 2-0 at Elgin last weekend. Brown Ferguson’s men have yet to win away in League 2 – three draws and one defeat – but have picked up 12 points out of 15 at Ochilview. They have the best defensive record in the division and their top scorer is Mark McGuigan, with nine league goals. The Warriors beat Edinburgh City 1-0 at Ainslie Park in the Scottish Cup and host Alloa in the third round.
