Stirling Albion take on Jim McInally’s Peterhead at Forthbank on Saturday in what is our last home game before Christmas. We go into the match seeking our first home league win of the season on the back of an encouraging performance against Raith Rovers in the Scottish Cup despite losing 2-0.
Team news: Willie Robertson is again suspended and Darren Lee Smith and Lewis Coult remain out. Graham Weir returns after missing last week’s game due to illness.
Opponents: Peterhead were promoted as League 2 winners and are in sixth place in the table. They had no game last weekend after losing to Stranraer in the third round of the Scottish Cup while their last league outing was a 1-1 draw with Brechin at Balmoor. Peterhead’s last away game was a 3-2 win at Ayr on November 15 but the SPFL have ordered that fixture to be replayed as the visitors fielded Reece Donaldson when he was suspended.
Past meetings: The sides have met on 37 occasions since Peterhead joined the SFL in 2000 and we lead the series 15 wins to 12, with 10 draws. The most recent encounter was a 1-1 draw at Balmoor on the opening day when Rory McAllister equalised late on after Gordon Smith had given us the lead. We won 2-0 at Forthbank in August 2013 but the Blue Toon claimed a 2-1 victory on their last visit in February.
