Saturday morning update: We’ve had a look at the pitch and, despite yesterday’s heavy rain, there is no need for an inspection – it’s very much game on!
Stirling Albion welcome Scottish Cup quarter-finalists Albion Rovers to Forthbank on Saturday, with both sides needing a win to boost their play-off hopes. We are sixth in the table after losing 2-1 to Peterhead last weekend, one place and two points ahead of our visitors from Coatbridge, who arrive on the back of a 2-0 victory over Stenhousemuir.
Team news: Binos boss Greig McDonald is facing a selection headache, with Graham Weir suspended and David McClune, Ross Forsyth, Chris Smith and Phil Johnston all ruled out. Kieran McAnespie, Dale Fulton and Darren Smith are rated doubtful.
Facts and figures: Rovers haven’t won away from home in League 2 since beating East Stirlingshire in September and Scott Chaplain is the only player to score in the league for James Ward’s team in 2014. We have won only two of our last nine matches and have scored just a single first-half goal in that time.
Recent meetings: Phil Johnston and Dale Fulton were on target when we beat Rovers 2-1 at Forthbank at the end of October on a night when the visitors had Scott Chaplain sent off in the first half. We lost 2-1 at Cliftonhill in early December and had Graham Weir red carded late on – skipper Jamie Bishop got our goal.
