Stirling Albion make the short journey to Recreation Park on Saturday for a William Hill Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against Alloa.
We have knocked out Whitehill Welfare and Turriff United to reach this stage while Paul Hartley’s side accounted for Inverurie Locos in round three.
Team news: Defender Chris Smith remains out with the knee problem that has seen him miss the last two matches and midfielder Mark Ferry is a doubt due to illness and a foot injury. Brian Allison is out long term following knee surgery in the summer.
Greig McDonald: “While we will go to Recreation Park as the underdogs, we all know that games are not played on paper. With a large vocal support behind us, we will be doing our very best to make the supporters proud and progress to the fifth round.”
Current form: We have lost just one of our last nine matches, the latest of which was a 4-4 draw at Annan on Saturday. Alloa are fifth in the Championship and have kept seven clean sheets so far. The Wasps have won their last two league games but didn’t play at the weekend as their trip to Dumbarton was frozen off.
Past meetings: Albion and Alloa have met twice before in the Scottish Cup. We won 3-1 at Forthbank in the 1995/96 competition while the Wasps prevailed 2-1 at Annfield in 1971/72. The teams last met in season 2009/10 when Alloa won all four games but we pipped them to the Second Division title on goal difference. Our last victory over our local rivals was 3-2 at Recreation Park in March 2009 thanks to goals from David McKenna (2) and Martin Grehan.
