Peterhead preview

SAFC Match Preview, News

Our first home game in League Two sees us take on title favourites Peterhead on Saturday. The Blue Toon lost out to East Fife in last season’s play-off final but are fancied by the bookies to top the table this time round. We are aiming to build on last week’s 2-1 win at Montrose, when goals from Dale Fulton and Mark Ferry got us off to the perfect start.

Team news: Winger Stephen Day returns from a one-match ban and striker Sandy Cunningham is also available again. David McClune, Dale Fulton and David Weatherston all got a run-out in a midweek bounce game with Spartans to boost their match sharpness. Peterhead this week signed former Berwick winger Fraser McLaren and welcome back Ryan Strachan after suspension but Callum MacDonald is injured.

Season so far: This is Peterhead’s first away game. They knocked Brechin out of the Ramsdens Cup to set up a Balmoor clash with Stenhousemuir on Tuesday. Jim McInally’s men were then beaten 2-0 by Alloa in the League Cup and drew 2-2 with Annan in League Two last weekend.

Recent meetings: Rory McAllister scored the only goal when Peterhead won 1-0 here in April but Jordan White’s penalty saw us win 1-0 back in December. Both Balmoor encounters were draws: 2-2 in October and 0-0 in February.

Referee: Euan Anderson

Admission: £10 adults, £7 seniors/students, £5 U17s
