We are very pleased to announce that highly-rated 17-year-old striker Sandy Cunningham has agreed a deal that will keep him at Forthbank until at least the summer of 2015.
Sandy, who scored 15 goals for the U19 team in the first half of the season, made his top-team debut against Deveronvale in the William Hill Scottish Cup tie in November and has impressed in recent appearances as a substitute.
Operations Director Stuart Brown said: “I’m delighted to confirm that our current under 19 player, Sandy Cunningham has accepted the Club’s offer to sign a professional contract for the remainder of this season and for the following two seasons 2013/14 & 2014/15. Sandy will formally sign the necessary paperwork before training on Tuesday evening.
“As well as being an exceptional talent, he’s got a fantastic attitude and desire to succeed. Huge credit is due to our under 19 coaches, Graeme Donald and David Binnie, who have been instrumental in ensuring Sandy has made huge strides since joining the team at the beginning of the season, having previously been at Falkirk.”
Manager Greig McDonald said: “I’m delighted Sandy has decided to sign his first professional contract with us. Sandy has done very well for the under 19s this season and we’ve been really impressed with his attitude and contribution to first-team games and training, particularly given his young age, and look forward to seeing him continue that progress in a Stirling Albion jersey.”
