Today's 1-1 draw at Peterhead means The Binos cannot catch The Blue Toon who sit in fourth spot and it will be them who will now look forward to the promotion play off matches. Although the start of the game was fine it soon became a winters day at Peterhead as heavy rain and a cold win decended on Balmoor. The pitch was bare in many places especially through the centre as both sides had difficulty passing. The first half saw the Albion on top but the Home defence was well organised by Bobby Mann. John O'Neill had a shot which just over the bar and Mark Docherty saw a goal bound shot blocked for a corner. The Martin Grehan after good play down the right by Andy Graham saw David McKenna square to Grehan whose shot was deflected for a corner. At the other end Scott Christie made a good stop from Sharp. The second half followed a similar pass to the first but Peterhead took the lead in the 53rd minute when Sean Roycroft was adjudged to have fouled although it seemed that the foul was on him. Bobby Mann stepped up and curled in a lovely shot from 25 yards. The Albion did hit back five minutes later John O'Neill hit a delightful chip into the box from a free kick and Paul Murphy reacted quickest to the scramble in the box to hit a 12 yard shot in off the post. Stirling continued to dominate but had a scare when Bavidge broke down the left into the box but Christie blocked his attempt with his legs. Stewart Devine then had a goal bound shot deflected over the bar. In injury time John O'Neill blasted over from 20 yards where it seemed a pass to the left would have seen Devine through on the keeper. MATCH REPORT |
