Albion twice came from behind to make it six wins in a row for the first time since 2006/07 as we stretched our unbeaten run to eight games.
Our latest victory, at a sun-baked Broadwood, closed the gap on fourth-placed Elgin to five points with six games remaining as we prepare to host leaders Forfar next weekend.
Dave Mackay’s men were off the pace in the first half but it was a different story in the second half as we gained revenge for our Scottish Cup replay defeat here two months ago.
Darren Smith took his tally for the season to 10 goals with a double and Ross Kavanagh was also on target, with Peter MacDonald and David Gormley (penalty) netting for the Bully Wee.
Binos boss Mackay made three changes to the team that beat Annan – Frazer Wright came in for the injured Ross Smith while Liam Caddis and Blair Henderson replaced Josh Jeffries and Connor McMullan.
Stirling looked flat in the first half and fell behind in 25 minutes when Martin McNiff hooked the ball across from the left and MacDonald steered a crisp finish into the corner.
The same player missed a good chance to double Clyde’s lead and we equalised early in the second period when Sean Dickson’s perfect pass allowed Smith to prod the ball beyond John Gibson.
Connor McLaren had an effort disallowed before the hosts went back in front in 63 minutes. Henderson fouled McDonald at a free-kick and Gormley smashed the penalty high into the net.
Victory would have given Clyde valuable breathing space ahead of next Saturday’s visit to bottom club Cowdenbeath but there is a determination about this Stirling team not to lose and Kavanagh drilled home the equaliser in 78 minutes after a header had been cleared off the line.
The winner came just three minutes later. Dickson was the architect with a terrific ball into the box and Smith looped a header up and over Gibson to make it two wins and two draws for Albion against Clyde in Ladbrokes League 2 this season.
