Stirling Albion Nets Amicable Sponsor -
As Rebirth of the 'Binos' Begins

Stirling Albion is pleased to announce local insurance giant Scottish Amicable as major club sponsor in a three year deal that brings local team and local employer together for the first time.

The shirt sponsorship deal with Scottish Amicable to 2002/03 represents another strategic building block in the on-going transformation of 'the Binos'.

Few close season brooms have swept more thoroughly than that at Forthbank where the returning faithful would be forgiven for thinking they are supporting a different club.

The new season signals a new era for the club. Besides netting Scottish Amicable as new sponsor and taking to the field sporting a new strip complete with redesigned new club crest, it is the first season in charge for new manager Ray Stewart. Match days will also be Family days with the opening of the new Stirling Observer Family Enclosure and the arrival of new Club Mascot "Bino the Bear".

Peter McKenzie, Chairman of Stirling Albion expands - "The Scottish Amicable sponsorship deal represents a major coup for the club. While we welcome the financial support it brings, the value of the sponsorship goes well beyond financial boundaries. It send out an important message to the community about getting behind your local football team and we are delighted that the largest local employer is enthusiastically supporting the club.

We want to bring success back to the club and give our sponsor good returns on its investment. Local support on and off the field can make it happen"

The Chairman who's company McKenzie Trailers had sponsored the club for the past decade added "I have no regrets about handing the sponsorship deal over to Scottish Amicable and it is bound to raise the profile of Scottish Amicable as well with their name being on our shirts as we play all over Scotland"

He added "the money from this Scottish Amicable deal will be used for the general good of Stirling Albion Football Club, but the biggest percentage of it will be used on the youth set up".

Scottish Amicable were also very excited about this deal and their Senior Press Officer Darragh Leeson said that this deal had been described as " premiership sponsorship deal for a lower league team". Scottish Amicable will also become more involved in the off field activities and they added "we will try to enhance the good work that has been done so far in the terms of youth development, youth groups, schools and local teams".

Scottish Amicable and the club have still to iron out a few details and it looks like the Amicable may be looking at a range of benefits designed for the club if we gain promotion and do well on the field.

Gavin Stewart, Marketing Director at Scottish Amicable announcing the company's sponsorship deal said "We have always been active in the community through our support of the arts and charities and we are delighted, as a company headquartered in Stirling, to extend this activity to the sponsorship of our local football team. We look forward to working alongside Stirling Albion, with its strong youth team policy, on a number of community activities including the further promotion of its work in taking football to schools and disadvantaged areas within the community".

Both club and company have agreed to focus on a variety of initiatives that will go to the heart of the community including schools programmes, staff incentives and a variety of other initiatives which will be announced shortly.
