The first football match I ever saw was when I was on holiday in Arbroath, aged 5, in 1971 and the opponents were the Albion. That was it, I was hooked.
My best player would be Matt McPhee. Difficult to name an all time team as I left Stirling in 1983 and only saw the Albion now and again. But it would have Gordon Arthur in goal and Matt McPhee, Billy Steele,John Brogan and Graeme "Louis" Armstrong would all be in it. So would Allan Moffat, because his mum used to work beside mine.
My best home match would be Albion 5 Brechin City 0 [14 Nov 1981] (Bobby Torrance played that day) and away match would be Dunfermline 2 Albion 3 [1 Feb 1986] Both matches would be in the early 80's but I can't remember exactly when. My most exciting game would be Beating Celtic 1-0 at Annfield, prior to getting a dooing at Parkhead 6-1
My best manager would be Alex Smith. He was the manager for most of the time I was a regular at Annfield and his brother Dan was my Nan's local baker.
My favourite ground would be Annfield. It was 5 minutes from my gran's house and there was nothing better than watching the Binos on a cold winters night drinking bovril in the Viewforth end
How would I do as Manager? I'd like to think I couldn't do any worse than some of our past bosses
Whilst the debate about the Old Firm playing in England rages on, people should realise that without teams like the Albion, there wouldn't BE any Scottish football.
