Stirling Albion v Queen’s Park preview

Stirling Albion are going for a fourth straight win in Ladbrokes League 2 when we welcome Queen’s Park to Forthbank this weekend.

The pitch was covered on Thursday afternoon to protect it against the frost and we plan to lift the covers at 10.00am on Saturday. If you are in the local area and able to lend a hand it would be much appreciated.

Team news: We are again without defender Lee Hamilton, midfielder Kevin Moon and striker Mark Stewart due to injury. Dom Docherty starts a two-game ban after being sent off against Annan last week. Former Annan forward Max Wright and midfielder Archie Thomas, on loan from Dundee United, became our third and fourth January signings this week.

Kevin Rutkiewicz: “I’m proud of how well the players did against Annan last week and we want to keep our good run going. Queen’s Park have already won at Forthbank this season and were arguably the better team at Hampden so we know we are in for a difficult game.”

Opponents: Mark Roberts’ side have suffered a number of injuries in recent weeks and are looking to end a run of nine games without a win in all competitions since beating Peterhead in November. Their only away league victory so far was 1-0 at Albion Rovers. On Friday they announced the signing of David Galt, who returns after spells with Alloa Athletic and Cambuslang Rangers.

Past meetings: Stirling won 1-0 at Forthbank in September with a Ross McGeachie goal but Queen’s Park earned a 2-1 victory in the Scottish Cup a month later. It was 1-1 at the National Stadium in December when Darren Smith scored our goal.
