Stirling Albion welcome Elgin City to Forthbank on Saturday for the first of our April fixtures, looking to build on the recent 1-0 win over Berwick Rangers and the 0-0 draw at Queen’s Park.
Kevin Rutkiewicz: “Elgin burst our bubble a bit with the win up there so we are looking to avenge that result. I think Elgin are a terrific team from middle to front – they are creative and score goals and ask you lots of questions but they also have weaknesses and we will look to exploit them.”
Team news: Midfielder Danny Jardine remains on the sidelines after suffering a head injury against Clyde last month and skipper Ross McGeachie is again set to miss out with a rib injury. Dylan Mackin is rated doubtful with a shoulder problem but Neil McLaughlin could return to the squad.
Opponents: Elgin are sixth in the table, one place and two points below Stirling. Their away record this season is six wins, one draw and eight defeats. Gavin Price’s men are on a run of four straight defeats since ending Clyde’s long unbeaten run with a 2-1 win last month. They lost 1-0 at home to Annan on Saturday.
Past meetings: Goals aplenty this season! We won 3-0 at Borough Briggs in September but lost the return match 3-2 in February. We stormed back from two goals down to win 5-2 at Forthbank in December.
