Stirling Albion head for Hampden Park on Saturday to face Queen’s Park in Ladbrokes League 2.
Kevin Rutkiewicz: “We want to build on last week’s win over Berwick and finish the season strongly but this will be a tough test. Queen’s Park have played very well against us and I believe they are unfortunate not to have more points this season.”
Team news: Midfielder Danny Jardine will again miss out following his head injury at Clyde a fortnight ago and skipper Ross McGeachie remains doubtful with a rib injury. A number of players were unable to train on Tuesday and Binos boss Kevin Rutkiewicz will make a late decision on one or two.
Recent meetings: It was 1-1 at Forthbank in January when Scott McLean’s penalty cancelled out Darren Smith’s penalty in a game dominated by the Spiders. It was also 1-1 at Hampden in December when Smith equalised after Warren Hawke broke the deadlock. We won the first league meeting this season 1-0 thanks to a Ross McGeachie goal but Mark Roberts’ team knocked us out of the Scottish Cup.
Opponents: Queen’s Park are seventh in the table, two places and four points below Stirling. They have a strong home record, with seven wins, five draws and just three defeats. The Spiders drew 0-0 at Cowdenbeath last week but ran out 4-1 winners against Elgin City at Hampden a fortnight ago.
