Stirling Albion head across the border to play Berwick Rangers on Saturday as we look to continue our good run of just one defeat in the last 11 games in Ladbrokes League 2.
Berwick club legend Ian ‘Pea’ Oliver – who had served in various roles over 50 years and was still working as the kit man – will be remembered before the game after he sadly passed away on Thursday. He was a hugely popular figure in Scottish football and our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone at Berwick.
Kevin Rutkiewicz: “It feels like a long time since our last game against Albion Rovers so we are looking forward to getting back to it. It’s a big week coming up with Albion Rovers at home on Tuesday and Elgin away next Saturday but the full focus is on the Berwick game first.”
Team news: Dom Docherty returns after a two-match ban and fellow midfielder Scott Glover this week joined on loan from St Mirren. Striker Mark Stewart has left the club while defender Lee Hamilton and midfielder Kevin Moon remain on the injury list.
Recent meetings: Berwick were 1-0 winners at Shielfield on the opening day of the season when we faded badly after a bright first half. It was 3-0 Stirling at Forthbank in November thanks to goals from Neil McLaughlin, Dylan Mackin and Danny Jardine.
Opponents: Berwick are ninth in the table after a disappointing run of results but boss Johnny Harvey has bolstered his squad with the loan signing of Alloa striker Ahmed Aloulou while defender Dougie Brydon has returned for a second spell at the club. This is Berwick’s first home game since January 12, when they lost 3-0 to Clyde and their last victory was against Albion Rovers in November.
