Peterhead made it a hat-trick of 1-0 wins at Forthbank this season to take control of this play-off semi-final tie.
The only goal came after 29 minutes when Russell McLean headed the ball back across goal and centre-half Mason Robertson turned it in from close range.
The Blue Toon dominated the first half – Cammy Binnie made a superb save to tip a Rory McAllister shot on to the bar and the visitors came close on another couple of occasions.
Albion were much improved in the second half, with substitute Willie Robertson and Liam Caddis –making his first start since January 2 – impressing in midfield but we didn’t force keeper Greg Fleming into many saves.
Danny Jardine almost equalised but his shot slipped just wide after good work by Ross Kavanagh then a ball right across goal didn’t find a taker.
Peterhead almost added a second when Robertson’s header from a corner was cleared off the line and Jack Leitch sent a late effort narrowly wide.
It was a seventh straight victory for Jim McInally’s men as our winless sequence was extended to eight matches. We have a big job to do at Balmoor on Saturday to have any chance of going through to the final against Queen’s Park or Stenhousemuir.
