Stirling v Stenhousemuir preview
It’s all come down to the final game of the season… a point against Stenhousemuir will seal a play-off place, with the Warriors needing a win to be certain of a top-four finish.
Clyde are two points behind Stenhousemuir and three adrift of the Binos, with six worse of a goal difference, so they must beat Berwick at Broadwood to have any chance.
If we make the play-offs we will be at home this coming Wednesday and away next Saturday, regardless of whether we finish third or fourth in the table.
Team news: Striker Andy Little is definitely out with the thigh injury he suffered at Clyde a fortnight ago. Peter MacDonald, Darren Smith, Lee Hamilton and skipper Willie Robertson will all be assessed ahead of the game.
Previous meetings: We won 3-2 at Ochilview on the opening day of the season but were beaten 2-1 by Brown Ferguson’s side at Forthbank in October and that was also the score at Ochilview in the most recent encounter on January 2. Martin Scott and Ross Meechan netted for the Warriors before Darren Smith pulled one back late on.
Opponents: Stenhousemuir had the chance to seal a play-off place in midweek but drew 2-2 at Berwick after fighting back from 2-0 down. Top scorer Mark McGuigan, with 20 league goals, has been out injured since the end of March. The Warriors have lost just one of their last six games – to leaders Montrose – winning twice and drawing three times.
