From the January edition of The Albion match programme
Timeline: Tuesday 2 January 11:00pm
This afternoon’s disappointing, indeed generally depressing performance and result against Stenhousemuir at Ochilview Park, does not lend itself to starting this article with the traditional opening felicitations of the year so I would respectfully ask readers to refer to the closing paragraph.
The evidence of our results speaks for itself: things have been tough going for the last couple of months of the year just past and today’s result, in our first game of 2018, has done nothing to change that. Additionally, to put a cap on matters, the ankle injury suffered by on-loan Hearts youngster, Callumn Morrison, doesn’t look good with the initial prognosis suggesting a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
I can assure supporters that Dave Mackay has the full backing of the Club Board to explore all options in the transfer/loan market to revitalise our League campaign and, with the Transfer Window now open, I would expect to see movement – both in and out – in the coming days/weeks.
The remainder of January see us face four further fixtures; two at home against teams below us (Berwick Rangers and Edinburgh City) and I extend the usual warm welcome to the officials, management, players and supporters of both Clubs. Our travels see us head to free-scoring Peterhead and top-of-the-table Montrose. A couple of home wins and something (anything!) on our travels would be a big step back in the right direction!
Happy New Year, good health and fortune, to everyone who genuinely has the best interests of Stirling Albion at heart, in particular our Supporters Club who, as ever, have been so incredibly supportive of the Club and myself personally during 2017.
