From the December edition of The Albion magazine…
I had hoped to be penning this edition of “Inside the Box” in a better frame of mind but it wasn’t to be. It’s 11:30pm on Tuesday 5 December and, with a print deadline of tomorrow morning, I’ve no option but to set about the keyboard a couple of hours after the full-time whistle has blown at Forthbank and the dust has settled on a thoroughly disappointing performance against Peterhead, as we record our second single-goal defeat in four days.
Given the time of day (night?) and my mood, I’ll be brief!
December presents us with a number of challenges, but also opportunities. It is shaping up to be pivotal in terms of our aspirations for the season – do we reverse the recent trend of poor performances (and results) or do we continue our downward spiral?
Only the players can answer that one, on the field of play, and they’ve got four games left in 2017 to provide a positive outcome. I have absolutely no doubt that the squad are capable of better than recent results have suggested – they’ve shown this earlier in the season, and our table position supports this. I also know that they are determined to get back to winning ways.
Two home games await, with Cowdenbeath and Montrose providing the opposition, and I extend a warm, festive welcome to everyone associated with both clubs. Our away travels see us head to opposite ends of Scotland to play Annan Athletic and Elgin City. Twelve points might just manage to put a smile back on my face!
It’s tough times like this when those who truly care for the football club show their worth; they get behind the players and management. With your support, and the efforts of the whole squad, I remain confident we can return to winning ways.
I’ll close by thanking you, the supporters, for your backing on behalf of Dave, Frazer and the players. Roll on 2018 and a climb back to the top of the league.
C’mon the Binos!
