Peterhead knocked Montrose off the top of the Ladbrokes League 2 table with a deserved win as we suffered our second defeat in the space of four days.
Rory McAllister scored the only goal just before half-time and Albion ended the game with 10 men after Andy Black was sent off for a high tackle on Willie Gibson with 15 minutes left.
It was a disappointing display and the narrow scoreline belies the fact the Blue Toon were in control for most of the game as they gained revenge for our 4-2 win at Balmoor in August.
Binos boss Dave Mackay made two changes to the team beaten 1-0 at Berwick, with Peter MacDonald and Sean Dickson replacing Ross Kavanagh and Neil McLaughlin, while Jim McInally named the same XI that defeated Edinburgh City 3-0.
On their first visit to Forthbank since March 2015, Peterhead started brightly and McAllister headed wide from a corner before we scrambled the ball off the line following another corner. There was another big let-off when Jack Leitch beat Cammy Binnie but a defender somehow got back to hook the ball clear.
We grew into the game, albeit without creating much, only to fall behind in 42 minutes when McAllister, who was struggling with a back spasm, saw his deflected shot loop up and over Binnie for his 21st goal of the season.
Darren Smith and Sean Dickson came close in the second half but Peterhead remained the better team and Jason Brown hit the bar with a header from a Gibson corner while McAllister missed a good chance late on after being gifted possession.
The result leaves us third in the table as we prepare to face bottom club Cowdenbeath at Forthbank on Saturday.
