Stirling Albion head for Ainslie Park on Saturday to play Edinburgh City, who are currently groundsharing with Spartans while Meadowbank Stadium is redeveloped.
Our lead at the top of Ladbrokes League 2 was cut to two points after losing 2-1 to Stenhousemuir at Forthbank last week but Dave Mackay’s men have won all four away league games so far.
Team news: Striker Peter MacDonald (knee) and skipper Willie Robertson (hamstring) are both facing four to six weeks on the sidelines. Defender Scott Davidson (hamstring) also misses out and fellow centre-half Ross Smith is a doubt. Andy Little remains a long-term absentee.
Previous meetings: We ran out 2-0 winners at Forthbank in August thanks to first-half goals from Darren Smith and Ross Kavanagh. We didn’t enjoy our visits to the capital last season, losing 2-0 at Meadowbank Stadium in December and 1-0 in April when Derek Riordan scored late on.
Opponents: Since our last meeting in August, former Hibs coach and Falkirk No 2 James McDonaugh has replaced long-serving Gary Jardine as manager. Edinburgh City are second from bottom in League 2 and have failed to score in their last five matches but by all accounts were unfortunate to lose 1-0 at Montrose last weekend. City this week signed Falkirk striker Scott Shepherd on loan until January – the 21-year-old previously had a spell on loan at Forthbank.
Stadium: Ainslie Park is located just off Ferry Road and is across the road from the old City Park (which is now housing) where we played Spartans in a Scottish Cup tie in 2000/01. The main stand will be in use and standing areas, if required, located adjacent to the stand. Edinburgh City does not operate segregated areas within the ground and fans will be directed to seated/standing areas by stewards. Details of how to get to Ainslie Park can be found HERE
