Stirling Albion return to action on Saturday when we welcome Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale to Forthbank in the second round of the William Hill Scottish Cup, kick-off 3.00pm.
Neither team had a game last weekend, with our last outing a 2-2 draw against Elgin City a fortnight ago while LTHV hammered Tweedmouth Rangers 11-1 on the same day.
Team news: Striker Andy Little remains on the sidelines and midfielder Willie Robertson will also miss out through injury. Winger Callumn Morrison is unavailable due to the terms of his loan agreement from Hearts.
Scottish Cup trivia: Our best run in the competition is the quarter-finals, which we last reached in 1989/90 when we lost to Clydebank in a replay. Last season saw us beat Linlithgow Rose (3-0) and Wick Academy (2-0) before losing 3-2 to Clyde in a Broadwood replay after a 2-2 draw. We have reached the fourth round in each of the last four years since losing 1-0 at home to Deveronvale in the 2012/13 third round.
Replay date: If the game ends in a draw, the replay will take place at Saughton Enclosure on Saturday October 21. If that happens, or if Cowdenbeath draw with East Kilbride, our League 2 fixture at Central Park will require to be rescheduled.
Opponents: Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale have beaten Kelty Hearts, Coldstream and Inverurie Locos to reach this stage. Sam Nhamburo’s stunning last-minute winner was voted Goal of the first round – watch HERE. Raymond Carr’s side are the reigning East of Scotland League champions but the lack of a licence prevented them entering the play-off for promotion to the Lowland League. LTHV knocked out Montrose two years ago, winning at Links Park after a draw in Edinburgh.
