Stirling Albion go into Saturday’s home game with Elgin City, kick-off 3.00pm, with a five-point lead over Peterhead at the top of Ladbrokes League 2.
We beat Annan Athletic 3-2 at Forthbank last weekend and are the joint-top scorers across the SPFL, along with Dunfermline Athletic and Raith Rovers, but are looking to tighten up at the back after conceding five goals in our last two home matches.
Team news: Striker Andy Little remains on the sidelines and full-back Steven Noble is struggling with a back problem but midfielder Liam Caddis, who missed out last week due to an ankle injury, trained on Thursday night and could return.
Previous meetings: Sean Dickson grabbed a last-minute winner when we claimed a 1-0 victory in a midweek match in February but Elgin won 4-0 at Forthbank almost exactly a year ago in what proved to be Stuart McLaren’s last match in charge. Dave Mackay’s first game as Binos boss was a dramatic 3-2 success at Borough Briggs in November and we drew 2-2 there in April.
Opponents: Elgin’s summer signings included former Stirling midfielder Jon Paul McGovern from Clyde, full-back Lewis Strapp (Morton, loan) and Bruce Anderson, who has scored three goals in his last two games on loan from Aberdeen. Last season’s top scorer Shane Sutherland remains out. Jim Weir’s men have won five of their last seven matches, including a 3-0 defeat of Montrose last week, and travel south to play The New Saints in the IRN-BRU Cup third round next weekend. Elgin are fifth in the table, one point outside the top four.
