Albion made it six wins out of seven to move five points clear at the top of the Ladbrokes League 2 table but the result was harsh on Annan.
Binos boss Dave Mackay was unhappy with the performance but we maintained our average of three goals per league game thanks to a double from Callumn Morrison and a Darren Smith goal – both have now scored nine goals in all competitions this season.
There were two changes to the team that won 3-1 at Montrose last week, with Sean Dickson replacing the injured Liam Caddis while on-loan Ross County keeper Mark Foden made his league debut as Cammy Binnie dropped to the bench.
We had won our five previous home matches against the Galabankies but were behind after just eight minutes when Owen Moxon was given space to fire a superb 25-yarder into the net.
Darren Smith quickly hauled us level when he lashed the ball in off the bar after being put through by Peter MacDonald, with the visitors appealing in vain for offside.
Morrison fired us in front on the half hour when he seized on a defensive blunder, steering the ball into the empty net after keeper Jim Atkinson had hit one of his own players with a clearance.
Darren Smith missed a good chance early in the second half but Annan were looking more and more of a threat and Rabin Omar dragged a shot horribly wide when he should have scored.
The equaliser arrived on the hour mark when Foden made a fine save from Omar but the lively Aidan Smith followed up to net the rebound.
The momentum seemed to be with Peter Murphy’s men but it was Stirling who grabbed the winner with 16 minutes left. Sub Neil McLaughlin did well to set up Morrison and he buried a low shot into the corner as we increased our advantage at the top going into next week’s home game with Elgin City.
