Clyde claimed a deserved win at Forthbank to end our 100% record but we remain top of the Ladbrokes League 2 table, a point clear of next week’s opponents Montrose.
Peter MacDonald’s first league goal for the Binos gave us an early advantage but man of the match David Goodwillie equalised before half-time and Mark Burbidge gave Clyde the lead shortly after the interval.
Callumn Morrison hauled us level on the hour mark but Jim Chapman’s team were always a threat and Barry Cuddihy lashed home the winner 11 minutes from time.
Dave Mackay named an unchanged team from the one that saw off Peterhead 4-2 in our last outing a fortnight ago against a Clyde side who had yet to keep a clean sheet but had scored in every game this season.
In truth, Stirling never enjoyed much control of the match despite taking the lead in 12 minutes when great work by Darren Smith saw him pick out MacDonald to net with a close-range header against his former club.
Clyde were worthy of their equaliser when it arrived with half-time approaching. A long ball down the left flank released Goodwillie and the former Scotland striker raced clear to beat Cammy Binnie with a cool finish low into the corner.
The visitors went ahead just after half-time when we failed to clear our lines and Burbidge’s shot had just enough on it to sneak in at the post despite Binnie’s best efforts.
It was all square when Morrison converted from inside the six-yard box after being picked out by substitute Willie Robertson’s delivery from the right but the Broadwood side always carried more threat and Cuddihy’s emphatic finish from outside the box, after being put through by Goodwillie, had them in front again.
MacDonald wasn’t far away with a late header but Clyde also created further chances and Goodwillie was denied by the post as they ended our perfect start.
