Stirling Albion return to action on Saturday when we welcome Motherwell to Forthbank in a pre-season friendly, kick-off 3.00pm.
There’s just a fortnight to go until we kick off our Betfred Cup campaign at Falkirk while the Fir Park side open with a BT Sport televised tie against Queen’s Park at Hampden, also on July 15.
Team news: Binos boss Dave Mackay is likely to give most of the squad a run-out but central defender Ross Smith and striker Andy Little miss out as they recover from injury. Former Peterhead left-back Steven Noble and ex-Clyde striker Peter MacDonald are the two new signings confirmed so far but more additions are likely soon.
Previous meetings: You have to go back to season 1980/81 for the last time Stirling Albion and Motherwell were in the same division – that was when we were relegated from Division One after failing to score for 13 games in a row! Well were one of the first visitors to Forthbank, winning 3-1 in a friendly in August 1993, and they also came out on top 2-0 in another friendly in July 2004. The last competitive meeting was in February 1999 – Motherwell won 2-0 in the last 16 of the Scottish Cup at Fir Park after we shocked Hibs in the previous round.
Opponents: Motherwell are looking forward to yet another season in the top flight and boss Stephen Robinson has brought in several new players – Alex Fisher (Inverness CT), Gael Bigirimana (Coventry City), Craig Tanner (Reading), Trevor Carson (Hartlepool United), Andy Rose (Coventry City) and Russell Griffiths (Everton) have all moved to Fir Park. Keith Lasley has retired from playing and has been appointed assistant manager.
Referee: David Munro
