Stirling Albion head for the capital on Saturday to take on Edinburgh City in our final away match of 2016/17, having not lost on our travels since the end of January.
Gary Jardine’s side have taken seven points from the last nine and will be looking to sign off on a high from their current base – City will be groundsharing with Spartans at Ainslie Park for the next three seasons while Meadowbank is being redeveloped.
Team news: Sean Dickson’s knee injury picked up in training ahead of the 2-2 draw at Elgin is not as serious as was first feared but he will miss what’s left of this season. Willie Robertson has returned to training but is unlikely to be risked this weekend while Ross Smith, Frazer Wright, Jack McCue and Andy Little remain on the sidelines.
Previous meetings: Edinburgh City’s first point of the season came in a 1-1 draw at Forthbank in September when Ross McMillan’s opener was cancelled out by a late Ross Allum strike. Ouzy See and Dougie Gair got the goals when we slumped to a 2-0 defeat – and the bottom of the table – at Meadowbank Stadium on December 10. Ross Kavanagh’s early goal earned us a 1-0 win at the end of February and set Dave Mackay’s men on a run of six straight victories.
Opponents: Edinburgh City are seventh in the table, one place and six points below the Binos. The Lowland League champions secured their SPFL status by beating Annan 2-0 last weekend and haven’t lost at home since January. Their most recent outing at Meadowbank Stadium was a 1-1 draw with Cowdenbeath, which they followed by beating Arbroath 1-0 at Gayfield.
