Stirling Albion FC, The Scribbler’s Picnic and Prudential UK & Europe have collaborated to create an exciting new family friendly community event – Binos Live.
The trio have joined forces to create a day of football and music which kicks off at 11am and runs until 6pm on Sunday 25 June at Forthbank.
The event will include a range of football activities – some fun, some serious! – promoting Stirling Albion’s work in the community. There will also be opportunities to find out more about becoming involved in the club, a mascot race and a chance to meet some of the first-team players and management.
Stirling fundraising group The Scribbler’s Picnic will be hosting two stages of live music, a food village, stalls and activities for kids.
Prudential UK & Europe, one of the area’s biggest employers, is sponsoring the event.
The Binos Live event is entirely non-profit making and funds raised will be donated to cancer-related charities as per the ethos of previous Scribbler’s Picnic events and the Stirling Albion Junior Academy.
The Scribbler’s Picnic announced last year that the 2016 music festival would be their last after they lost access to their established site at Stirling Rugby Club. However, Stirling Albion and Prudential approached the charity festival organisers earlier this year about a collaborative community venture.
Stirling Albion Chairman Stuart Brown said: “It is our absolute pleasure to present the first Binos Live. We are delighted to be partnering with the Scribbler’s Picnic on what will be a fantastic family day out. This is a great opportunity for people to find out more about Stirling Albion in general and in particular our community engagement and I would urge parents to bring their kids, of all ages, along.
“A huge thank you goes to Prudential, who have been our major sponsor for many years and our partnership goes from strength to strength. We are delighted to have their backing for this community-focused event.”
John Warburton, CEO Distribution for Prudential, based at the insurer’s Craigforth Campus in Stirling, said: “Prudential is delighted to be able to support the launch of a new community event, Binos Live, working together with Stirling Albion and The Scribbler’s Picnic.
“Prudential has proudly sponsored Stirling Albion for 17 years and it is always fantastic to see the work the club does with local young people and its efforts to help them lead a healthy and active life.
“This new Binos Live event will bring together many different parts of our local community through a celebration of sport and music. It is a wonderful example of community-led organisations coming together in a very positive way to benefit local people and give them a brilliant day out, as well as raise valuable funds for cancer charities.”
Scribbler’s Picnic founder and Chairman Ted Christopher said: “We are delighted to be hosting the music stages at Binos Live. We look forward to welcoming many of the Scribbler’s Picnic’s loyal regulars and also some new faces to see a mix of excellent bands.
“It will be a great day with lots of entertainment. It will be different from our established festival set up as there won’t be as many stages but I’m confident it will be just as enjoyable. There will be a real family focus with great music and we will be raising some well needed funds for cancer charities and the Stirling Albion Junior Academy.”
